Iraq but insisted his country would stil

　1.insist─當作「堅持」時，後方可以加上
 on + N/V-ing，如：I insist on paying th
e bill.（我堅持要付帳單）

　也可以加上一個 that 引導的名詞子句，而
此子句中多用助動詞 should，而且 should
可以省略，如：The manager insisted that
the report (should) be submitted by noon
.（經理堅持報告應於中午前交出）

　也可以加上一般的直述句，如：The prison
er insisted that he was innocent.（該名
犯人堅持他是無辜的）

　2.be due to─ 是常見且常用的片語。可以
指「預期」，如：The movie is due to open
 next week.（這部電影預計下周上演）

　也可指「因為」，如：His failure is due
 to his laziness.（他的失敗是因為他的懶
惰）

　或將 due to 當作副詞片語，如：Due to t
he heavy rain, the area was flooded.（因
為大雨，這地區淹水了）

　3.tabled a motion calling for the disp
atach?，此處之所以用calling，乃是兩個動
作同時發生，第二個動詞若是主動，則用 V-i
ng，被動則用 P.P.，如：The boy sat cryin
g loudly.（這男生坐著大哭）
